Newcomer Events

The University of Oxford Newcomers' Club is an organisation, run by volunteers, whose aim is to help the newly arrived wives, husbands or partners of visiting scholars, graduate students and newly appointed academic members of the University to settle into life in Oxford. It aims to provide them with opportunities to meet new people.

Coffee mornings for newcomers at the club

Every Wednesday during the University term (and the week before term begins and the week after term ends), the Newcomers’ Club hosts a coffee morning from 10.30 until noon at the club. Informal coffee mornings are held also during the Easter and summer vacations every Wednesday.

Each term the Newcomers' Club arranges a programme of events including visits to places of interest inside Oxford, for instance to the Ashmolean Museum, the Bodleian Library or to the Oxford colleges. It also usually organises a coach trip to interesting places near Oxford. Many of these trips offer newcomers the chance to visit places not normally open to visitors. Visit their events page to see a list of all the events run by the club, including the coffee mornings.
