Changes to the club’s operation

You may be aware that the operation of the University Club will transfer to our newly appointed service provider, Compass Group, from Sunday 1 October 2017. This new agreement is a long term partnership providing an exciting opportunity for the Club’s services to develop and bring a strong level of innovation over the contract’s life-time. All current University staff working at the Club have transferred to Compass under TUPE regulations with effect from Sunday 1 October 2017. 

Café and bar

The ‘day 1’ changes will see a refresh of the current café service. The café tariffs have been reviewed and we are pleased to let you know that many items have decreased in cost. As part of the implementation of the wider catering contract across 23 sites, tariffs have been reviewed ensuring all staff across the University pay a fair and equal price for catering. Cash and bank card payments remain available, with the added choice of YOYO and Apple pay. We are working on a new app which will allow a ‘Click& Collect’ service to be introduced shortly.

Over the coming months Compass will work with the University to consider both the food offer and the opportunity to restyle the catering area.  The club will benefit from capital investment to allow this refresh. Proposed designs with ‘mood’ boards and further information will be available over the course of Michaelmas term 2017.

We expect to reopen bedrooms before the end of Michaelmas term. A further update will be provided shortly.


The booking of sports facilities remains unchanged. More details about sports facilities and classes can be found here.

First Floor

Due to the impact of the Tinbergen decant, first floor facilities will not reopen for the foreseeable future. If you do require venue space it can be booked at other Facilities Management (FM) event venues, details can be found here.
