Using the Oxford University Sport App, you can quickly reserve your preferred workout times. Access is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via your University Card.

University Sports Fitness Classes

Add variety to your routine with our instructor-led group fitness classes, hosted right here in our dedicated exercise studio.

We are launching a pilot schedule of three weekly instructor-led classes starting 4th August. As these sessions grow in popularity, so will our group exercise timetable!

  • Members: Free as part of any University Club or Active+ membership (from £18.50 per month or £185 per year).
  • Pay-As-You-Go: £7 per class for non-members and pay-as-you-go visitors.

We will shortly be introducing a full range of world-class Les Mills Virtual workouts, giving you flexible, on-demand access to group fitness throughout the day – even during off-peak hours!

Outdoor MUGA Pitch

Our floodlit, all-weather Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) is ideal for football, netball, tennis, and outdoor team training. Located just a short walk from central university departments, it is the perfect central venue for sport.

Classes and Clubs

We are pleased to welcome a variety of classes hosted by local groups and clubs. Please book directly with the class leader. 

Core strength, posture, and back care

Taught by Gill Stansfield – a former nurse with almost 20 years of Pilates teaching experience – these classes specialise in helping participants manage back pain, musculoskeletal challenges, and chronic health conditions. Sessions offer tailored movement options for mixed-ability intermediate learners.

  • When: Wednesdays
    • 4:30pm – 5:15pm: Gentle Intermediate
    • 5:30pm – 6:15pm: Intermediate
  • Where: Multi-Purpose Room (MPR), Downstairs
  • Format: Termly block bookings only (no drop-in sessions).
  • What to Bring: Small mats and equipment are provided. Please bring a towel/head support and, if preferred, a larger exercise mat.
  • Important for Beginners: If you are new to Pilates or have specific health challenges, please contact Gill to arrange a 1:1 assessment before your first session.
How to book your Pilates place:
  1. Complete the online Health Form.
  2. Email to reserve: Email Gill directly at gill.stansfield@outlook.com with your preferred class time and to request BACS payment details.
  3. Pay to confirm: Make your BACS payment. Your place is fully secured once payment is received.

Note for returning members: Current participants receive advance priority booking for upcoming term blocks.

These welcoming sessions are suitable for everyone – all genders, from complete beginners to seasoned dancers. You’ll build fitness, explore contemporary movement, and connect with new people in a supportive environment focused on fun and individual enjoyment.

Running for over 10 years, Oxford Contact Dance is the only school in Oxford dedicated solely to contact improvisation. Sessions occasionally feature live musicians (known as 'jams'), and during the summer months, classes head outdoors for 'Dance in the Park' in the nearby University Parks!

  • When: Tuesdays, 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm
  • Where: Multi-Purpose Room (MPR), Downstairs
  • Format: Drop-in (no advance booking needed)
  • Price: £10 per session (payable by cash or bank transfer upon arrival)

Would you like to play social cricket?

The Oxford University Cricket Club (OUCCC) is always ready to welcome new members, and is open to University staff, postdocs and graduate students of any gender with any level of experience or ability.

The club organise friendly matches against local cricket teams throughout the summer, usually on Sundays and will run most weeks from April until September. The club can provide all equipment, and players are free to play however often fits with their schedule.
